The Governor visits the Grant County Library!

The Grant County Library in Ulysses hosted the Governor of Kansas today! Director Frances Roberts, her staff and her board members gave Governor Sebelius and me a tour of the library. After the tour, a reception was held to welcome the Governor to Ulysses.

Outstanding features of this beautiful library include a large young adult section next to the "Perks" library coffee shop, a comfy reading area next to a fireplace, and an outstanding children's area including an aquarium. And the library provides wireless access to the Internet!

After the tour and reception, I was priviledged to sit in on a very interesting talk and discussion on the book Great Plains by Ian Frazier. Dr. Jim Hoy from Emporia State University led the discussion; Dr. Hoy specializes in the literature and folklore of the Great Plains and was a wonderful presenter. The program was sponsored by the Kansas Humanities Council in cooperation with the Grant County Library.

Things are happening in southwestern Kansas!
