The Talking Books Advisory Council Meeting in Emporia

On August 18, Toni Harrell (Talking Books Director for the State Library of Kansas) and I met with the Talking Books Advisory Council in Emporia. The discussion centered around the activity in the Talking Book subregional centers and plans for launching a project around talking books online. Pictured above is Toni and me and Advisory Council Chair Christine Owens from the Prairie Independent Living Center.
Around the table from the left is Toni Harrell, Susan Marchant (Topeka Shawnee County Library), Gretchen Holden (KSU Student Support Services), Jackie Denk (KS State School for the Blind), Kathy Smith (Talking Books customer from Manhattan) and Pat Hall (Talking Book customer from Hays).

Suzanne Bundy from the Topeka Shawnee County Public Library/Subregional,
Beth Jordan from the Helen Keller Society, and Dan Owens all had thoughtful comments on the service provided in Kansas for the visually impaired.

Also at the meeting were Joanita Masden-Doll from the CKLS/Gread Bend Subregional, Liz Nix (SEKLS consultant), Shelia Marque (SRS Teacher/Talking Book customer), Ann Pearce (NCKLS subregional), Clarice Howard (NWKLS subregional) and Suzanne Bundy.
