News aggregators

Have you seen the quip on t-shirts and book bags, "too many books, too little time"? Well a 2006 version of that is "too many blogs, too little time!" After several attempts at self -education about news aggregators, I finally asked my valued friend and tech guru Brenda Hough for advice. She told me to go to Bloglines or another aggregator, and just start messing around. So I did, and now I have a very efficient and useful way to get the information I want.

What did I include in my aggregator? Well, of course I started with Jenny Levine's blog; next is the Free Range Librarian blog by Karen Schneider; and of course, I have to see the daily Unshelved comic! I like to read a variety of news, so I've got the BBC website, the Wichita Eagle blog and the Daily Kos. That, along with my daily NPR radio fix, and I think I have a fairly balanced view of what's going on in the world!? I've also got some personal feeds that I won't bore you with (quilting, Lutherans, and other various topics!) as I enjoy seeing what is new in those areas also.

I encourage you to try out this time-saver; you'll wish you could get all your web information this way!

Hi Christie! Please feel free to add MLC's Blog RSS feed to your news aggregator. And you can also add our RSS feed for MLC's News & Announcements. Here's our web site with links to all of our RSS feeds: http://www.mlcnet.org/cms/sitem.cfm/library_tools/rss_feeds/
