UNESCO

I have the privilege of serving as a Commissioner on the U.S. Commission to UNESCO, and have just returned from our second annual meeting in Washington, D.C. In addition to hearing some great speakers (including Mr. Norman R. Augustine, Retired Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Lockheed Martin Corporation! ), I participated in discussions on major UNESCO intitiatives. One of them is the World Digital Library, an online collection of information on countries and cultures. Another discussion centered around the importance of the free flow of information in emerging democracies. It's an exciting commission to be on, and heady stuff to attend the conference.
